650
this is the sum to which the Administrator refers.
The payments alluded to in Mr Nicolle's Minute were made, out of the General Balance in the Comptroller and Auditor General's hands, partly made up, no doubt, of the Draft above referred to, but the Comptroller and Auditor General alone is responsible for the allocation of the Money so paid to his Account, and for showing, when the proper time comes, what has been actually expended for each Colony, and how far that expenditure is in accordance with the Estimate.
In the last paragraph of his Despatch, Mr. Fleming states that he would be glad to learn what the Expenses of the Audit in England are likely to amount to.
As no accounts have yet been received from the Colony, it is impossible to estimate with accuracy the cost of Audit in this Country, but it may be desirable to make a distinction.
